Tammy Landau is Associate Professor of Criminology at Ryerson University. She is the author of Challenging Notions: Critical Victimology in Canada (CSPI, 2008), a ground-breaking work offering critical perspectives on victims and victimization in Canada. A new edition of this popular text is forthcoming in 2014. Her research interests and specializations lie in the areas of police accountability, aboriginal justice issues, critical victimology, racial profiling of women in the community, and police-community relations. Landau is also active in the justice and corrections community. A former member of the Board of Directors of Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto, she has served as Senior Research and Policy Advisor to the Prison for Women in Kingston, was appointed to the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services, and has been a regular consultant on justice issues to federal, provincial, and municipal governments.
